What Teachers Are Saying About Snappy Tappy®
Just an email to highlight the huge impact we’ve seen while using SnappyTappy®.
Our PE sessions are on a Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon. We have noticed that a large number of our pupils can become very dis-regulated and heightened in different ways during PE. They can become tired, frustrated, really excited and can be very sad if they have lost a game. There is a variety of emotions and for some of our wee ones, they can be quite big emotions!
We have been trialling using your SnappyTappy videos as a resource to use following every PE session. The pupils find this routine predictable; it helps HUGELY to regulate and settle back into a neutral zone to help with the transition to home time. The pupils seem to forget any disputes they were having about who won/lost, pupils who are really tired appreciate the opportunity to sit and relax, our really excited pupils benefit massively (Even though they often don’t see it themself) as it helps to ground them again before stacking the home time routine on top of their already heightened emotions.
Although, when heightened, some pupils have voiced that they don’t want to participate – they always end up joining in anyway in some way or another when they rest of the class starts tapping. Often, they will tap along, however if not they join in with the breathing or they are quietly listening to your voice and they settle into a neutral zone this way.
Some pupils have commented on feeling more relaxed, some pupils say they feel happy and one of our senior pupils who was originally not enthused by the idea actually asked if we could SnappyTappy at the end of the day when we weren’t doing PE!
